HOW TO GET TO PERU

Access roads to Peru

· Access by Land:

Three terrestrial entrance roads exist from the following borders:

· From the North: Enter Peru by Tumbes City in Ecuador.
· From the Southeast: Enter Peru from Bolivia through Puno City.
· From the South: Enter Peru from Chile through Tacna City.

The Panamericana highway is the main international highway that was recently reconstructed and that travels the country from the north to south. The highway passes through the Litoral deserted area from Tumbes to Tacna. The new highway is also important because it allows Bolivians and Peruvians to have access to the sea. You can travel almost anywhere in South America, from Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil. The most important bus companies that provide these services are: Cruz del Sur, Ormeño, El Rapido and Rutas de America. It is also possible to go from La Paz in Bolivia to Puno through Lake Titicaca.

· Air access:
There are several private airlines in Peru, such as: Aerocontinente (N6), Grupo Taca (TA), Lan Perú (LP), and Tans. The following international airlines also fly regularly to the Peru: Iberia, Aerolíneas Argentinas, Aeroméxico, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Continental Airlines, Alitalia, Avinaca, KLM, Lan Chile and Varig.

· Approximate flight times:
From Madrid to Lima: 12 hours.
From México DF to Lima: 5.40 hours.
From Buenos Aires to Lima: 4.50 hours.
From Miami to Lima: 5.40 hours.
From Atlanta to Lima: 6.50 hours
From New York to Lima: 7.50 hours.

· International airports:
Lima (LIM) (Jorge Chávez International) is located 16 km. northwest of the city (about 25 minutes). There is a taxi stop at the airport. The airport has tax-free stores, gift shops, banks, coffee shops, restaurants and an Office for Tourist Information. Cusco (CUZ) is located south of Lima and has flights to Lima, La Paz in Bolivia and other cities in Peru.

· Marine access ways:
Today, more and more cruises are arriving to the country as part of large South American tours, including Cunard, Princess Cruises and Hapag Lloyd, among others. They use a number of ports, including Callao (Constitutional County from Callao - Lima) and San Martin (Pisco - Ica).

TESTIMONIALS

Inca Trail 4 days
March 17, 2011

Jose was a very knowledgeable guide. His history lessons were very interesting and is always willing to help others along the trail. Couldn’t have made it without him. The food was nothing I have ever tasted and experienced. Highly recommend. The porters provided the best service I’ve ever experienced in any industry.  Amazed by their hard work along the trail. Humbled by their work. Equipment all functional. Amazing food flavors and fresh ingredients always something new each day. The train ride was and added tour of the mountains. We enjoyed the trip very much thanks to a great experience by Jose and the porters.  Highly recommend their services.
