2 DAYS INCA TRAIL
If you’re looking for a shorter hike and not as much physical exertion, the 2-Day Inca Trail is perfect for you. You will be able to see many of the same sites as the longer trek, including valleys, flora, fauna, ecological mountains, archaeological centers and ancestral mystic energy. And of course, the trek takes you over the sun gate and into MACHU PICCHU where you will enjoy a thorough guided tour.
DAY 1: CUSCO – WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHU PICCHU
Early on the morning of the first day, a certified tour guide in one of our private vehicles will meet you at the doorstep of your hotel and accompany you to the San Pedro train station. On the three-hour train ride, you will be able to appreciate the beautiful landscapes that will introduce you to Cusco’s Sacred Valley. When you reach Kilometer 104, a starting point in the center of the Inca Trail, your guide and your group will begin the expedition. After a short while, you will come across the first archeological center, CHACHABAMBA (2250 m.) where you can take in the precision of Incan architecture. After a short break, you will ascend for about three hours, towards the second archeological site of the day, WIÑAYWAYNA (2650 m.), where you will stop for a break and enjoy lunch. After lunch, you’ll continue through a semi-tropical forest towards the mystic INTIPUNKU (the sun gate). It is at INTIPUNKU that you will see the beautiful citadel of MACHU PICCHU for the first time, surrounded by enormous mountains, deep valleys, and the URUBAMBA River. From INTIPUNKU, you will begin your 30-minute descent. When you reach MACHU PICCHU (2,000 m.), you’ll have time to stop, rest, and take pictures of the breathtaking sites. Later, you will go in bus to the nearest town, AGUAS CALIENTES, where you will spend the night in a hotel and swim in hot springs.
DAY 2: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
After an early breakfast, you’ll take the first bus to MACHU PICCHU where you will enjoy the magical citadel before the arrival of the other tourists coming from Cusco. In MACHU PICCHU, your guide will take you through the mazes of stonework and give you a three-hour tour of MACHU PICCHU’s history, culture, and modern discoveries. After the tour, you will have the opportunity to explore on your own and enjoy the tranquility of the lost Incan city. That afternoon, you will pass through AGUAS CALIENTES and take the returning train to Cusco.
