When the announcement of the arrival of a first batch of vaccines against COVID-19 in Peru became official, the governor of the Cusco region, Jean Paul Benavente estimated that in the next four months they should be sending 500 thousand doses from Lima to vaccinate 250 thousand Cuzco.
As is known, the President Francisco Sagasti announced the agreement to purchase vaccines from the Sinopharm laboratory, whose first batch of one million vaccines would be arriving at the end of the month. Another purchase agreement was also made with AstraZeneca so that from September the first doses of a total of 14 million arrive.
In this regard, the regional authority said that next week, it will hold a meeting with the Ministry of Health to define the total number of vaccines that should be sent to the region to protect the population.
He announced that between 40 and 50 thousand doses will serve to immunize professionals in the fight against the coronavirus who are on the front line. “Later, it will come to the police and the vulnerable population.
