The main airlines that fly to Peru are warming up to restart their activities between July and September 2020. Here we offer you a summary of the current situation regarding flights to Peru and domestic flights.
There are several airlines that offer economic prices for round-trip air tickets for flights departing from 1st September 2020 onwards. Some examples include tickets with Latam Airlines in the Miami-Lima route from USD 230 and Santiago-Lima route from USD 170, tickets with American Airlines in the New York-Lima route from USD 280, tickets with Interjet in the Mexico City-Lima route from USD 200, tickets with Iberia in the Madrid-Lima route from USD 550, tickets with Aeromexico in the Montreal-Lima route from USD 470, and tickets with Air Europa in the Paris-Lima route from USD 590.
Airlines are giving facilities to travelers so that they can buy their air tickets in advance from now on, and if they after need to change the travel date it will be very easy to do so and any change will be free of charge. In the case of IBERIA for the purchase of air tickets until 30th June for your trip in 2020, the airline allows changes at no additional cost, only the difference in fare for the new date would need to be paid, if any, and this change can be made up to 15 days before the departure of the flight.
In this way, the arrival of travelers to Peru will be possible, and being in national territory they all will be able to use land transportation on the wide network of roads that runs through the country and take the domestic flights they need to the tourist destinations selected within Peru.
Certainly, this month of May the Ministry of Transport and Communications confirmed that the restart of national air transport and inter-regional land passenger transport should be between July and August, during the third phase of the national economic reactivation plan.
Regarding international flights, the opening of the Peruvian borders for the arrival of flights from abroad would be occurring approximately between September and October 2020, in the fourth and last phase of the national economic reactivation plan.

Perhaps one of the best news of these days has been that the main airlines flying in Peru are already preparing and equipping themselves with everything necessary to restart their activities and complying with the corresponding biosafety protocol to avoid contagion from the virus COVID-19.
As an example, Latam Airlines, Sky Peru, Viva Air and Star Peru have announced the sanitary measures they are implementing to guarantee the safety of their passengers, crew and collaborators from before boarding, during the flight and upon arrival at the destination. These include mandatory online check-in, permanent use of a mask, physical distance and cancellation of the intermediate seat on the planes.
Moreover, the areas of counter will only work to dispatch luggage and to carry out check-in only in special cases and therefore passengers are recommended to travel light, with the essential luggage to avoid delays in security filters; and they are also recommended to arrive earlier in order to take their flights, since the new sanitary controls to enter the departure lounge would take longer. These provisions will be part of the new protocol that the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) is preparing for the approval of the Ministry of Health (MINSA).
