The 2-day Inca Trail, starting at km 104 and ending at Machu Picchu through the iconic Sun Gate, is regulated by Peru’s Ministry of Culture.
Only 250 permits are available each day (including staff and guides), and each traveler needs two separate permits:

  • An official permit for the 2-Day Inca Trail
  • A Machu Picchu entrance ticket (limited to 4,600 per day)

Meeting herders, weavers, and curious children along the trail adds depth to this authentic cultural immersion. Every interaction builds stronger bonds within your group.
