Availability & How to Book
Plan ahead and secure the perfect family adventure
The 2-day Inka Trail is a special, family-friendly version of the ancestral route—ideal for those who want to experience the magic of the Inca Trail and reach Machu Picchu through the mystical Sun Gate, without committing to the full 4-day trek.
Due to its immense archaeological, cultural, and environmental value, access is limited to only 250 people per day, including visitors, guides, and authorized staff.
Important: According to Peruvian Ministry of Culture regulations, each traveler must obtain two permits:
- Official permit for the 2-day Inka Trail
- Entry ticket to Machu Picchu (limited to 4,600 visitors per day)
This double requirement means spots sell out quickly, especially during high season (May–October). We strongly recommend booking 6 to 10 months in advance.
Why early booking matters for families?
- Ensures availability during high season (April–September), when many families travel.
- Allows time to tailor the itinerary to your children’s ages and interests.
- Lets you coordinate special diets, family rooms, train tickets and add-ons with ease.
- Avoids last-minute stress and surprises.
