Machu Picchu is the first wonder of the world to receive carbon neutral certification.
The Historic Sanctuary of Machupicchu, became the first carbon neutral tourist destination.
With this certification, we are committed to reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 45% by 2030. Consequently, net zero emissions will be reached by 2050, in accordance with the guidelines of the Paris Agreement. Thus, on September 2, Machupicchu was recognized as the first carbon neutral tourist destination, which is a great step in environmental management that promotes sustainable and climate-responsible tourism among all its visitors.
