Step 2 – Deposit Booking
To confirm your permits:
- Pay a 50% deposit or the full amount in advance
- The remaining balance can be paid up to 15 days before the trek or in cash at our office in Cusco during the briefing.

Departure time: 4:00 AM (early morning)
Total duration: Approx. 12 hours
Meeting point: Pickup from hotels in Cusco’s historic center
Hotel Pickup (4:00 – 4:30 AM)
Our team will pick you up early from your accommodation. Be ready and well-rested as we head to the southern region of Cusco on a scenic 3-hour drive.
Breakfast in Cusipata
Stop for a nutritious, energizing breakfast at a local restaurant. Includes hot drinks, bread, fruit, eggs, and more. A chance to fuel up and acclimatize before the hike.
Arrival at Starting Point – Pampachiri
After a short drive, we arrive at Pampachiri or Chillihuani (season-dependent), where the hike begins. A safety briefing and key recommendations are provided before setting out.
Start of the Hike
The hike lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours depending on group pace. The trail is moderately to highly challenging, with steady ascents, cold winds, and high altitude. Along the way, spot snow-capped peaks, llamas, alpacas, and local villages.
Arrival at Rainbow Mountain – Viewpoint
A defining moment! We reach 5,036 m (16,522 ft) above sea level to witness mountain’s amazing colors: red, green, yellow, and purple spread across the ridge. Free time to rest, take photos, and connect with the landscape.
Return via the Same Route
We begin the return to the trailhead. If needed, you may descend on horseback (optional, extra cost).
Lunch in Cusipata
Enjoy a buffet lunch with traditional Andean dishes and light, healthy options to recover your energy.
Return to Cusco (Approx. 2:30 – 5:00 PM)
We travel back to the city of Cusco via tourist transport. Drop-off at your hotel or a central location around 5:00 PM, wrapping up an unforgettable journey.
