To book a 12-day Peru tour, you must consider the Inka trail because the access is limited to only 500 people per day—including visitors, guides, cooks, and porters.

This daily limit applies to all Inca Trail versions (4, 5, and 6 days), meaning all groups share the same permit pool.

Per recent regulations from the Peruvian Ministry of Culture, each traveler must secure two separate permits:

1. The official Inca Trail permit
   
2. Entry to Machu Picchu (limited to 4,600 visitors per day)
   

These dual requirements make spaces even more limited, and with thousands of people dreaming of this journey daily, we strongly recommend booking 6 to 10 months in advance, especially for high season (May to October).

PERU 12 DAYS PACKAGE – ITINERARY

This itinerary has been designed for travelers who wish to go beyond conventional tourism. It combines the best of the Andes with the depth of the Amazon, creating an intimate, diverse, and transformative experience, step by step.

Day 1: Welcome to Peru

You will be greeted at the international airport Jorge Chavez in Lima, by our team and transferred to your hotel. This day is designed for you to rest and calmly acclimate to the country, enjoying your first impression of Peru: warm hospitality and impeccable organization.

Day 2: Flight to Cusco and City Tour

After breakfast, our transfer will pick you up from the hotel and take you to the airport. After the flight to Cusco, we will welcome you with a coca tea to alleviate altitude sickness. After a short break, we will begin the city tour, visiting the most emblematic temples and archaeological sites such as

• The Cathedral
• Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun)
• Sacsayhuamán
• Q’enqo
• Tambomachay
• Puca Pucara.

History, spirituality, and ancestral architecture intertwine in a fascinating day. Then we will transfer you to your hotel.

Day 3: Sacred Valley – Living tradition and sacred landscapes

We start the day heading to the Sacred Valley, surrounded by mountains, crops, and Andean communities. We visit Pisac and its artisan market, continue through Urubamba until we reach Ollantaytambo, a living Inca town.

On the return, we pass through Chinchero, famous for its textiles and living heritage. Finally, we’ll leave you at your hotel in Cusco to take a rest. A day of scenic beauty, culture, and connection with the land.

Day 4: Wayki Experience – The heart of the Inca Trail

You will live a unique day sharing with our porters in their Andean community. You will learn their stories, participate in daily activities, and enjoy a traditional dinner under the stars. This social immersion experience will emotionally prepare you for what is to come: the sacred route of the Incas.

Day 5: Inca Trail – Day 1: First steps towards the sacred

From Km 82, we begin the hike to Machu Picchu along a route that unites nature and archaeology. On this day, we’ll explore the archaeological ruins named Llactapata and then we continue to the Wayllabamba Valley and its archaeological site, where we will camp amidst a high jungle landscape. The first day allows you to adapt to the rhythm, the environment, and the spirit of the Trail.

Day 6: Inca Trail – Day 2: The most challenging day

Today we face the highest physical challenge of the route: the Warmiwañuska pass (4215 m), also known as “Dead Woman’s Pass.” The ascent is demanding, but the reward is an imposing landscape, an amazing view of the Vilcanota river and its mountain chain, and a feeling of inner conquest. After crossing it, we descend to Pacaymayo to rest under the starry Andean sky.

Day 7: Inca Trail – Day 3: Temples, tunnels, orchids, and clouds

The longest day, but also the most revealing. With some small Inca ruins along the way, we will reach the second pass and discover the archaeological rests of Runkurakay, Sayacmarca “the dominant town”, Conchamarca, a small and recently discovered archaeological site, and the mystical Phuyupatamarca, “the city above the clouds.” We delve into the magic of its Andean forests, appreciating hundreds of orchids, hummingbirds with very changing ecological levels. Then we descend ancient Inca steps until we reach Wiñaywayna “Forever Young”, where we will camp for the last time before reaching Machu Picchu.

Day 8: Inca Trail – Day 4: Reaching Machu Picchu

We wake up early to reach Intipunku (Sun Gate) and have the first magical view of Machu Picchu. Then, we enter the citadel for a 2-hour guided visit. After exploring freely, we descend to Aguas Calientes, have lunch, and take the train back to Cusco.

Day 9: Free day in Cusco – Reconnection and rest

A free day for you: you can rest, visit museums, try local gastronomy, or simply let the city surprise you at your own pace. A necessary space to integrate what was experienced in the previous days.

Day 10: Towards the jungle – The planet’s lung awaits you

We fly to Puerto Maldonado and navigate the Madre de Dios River to the lodge in the middle of the jungle. We explore Cocha Caimán and at dusk, observe caimans and other nocturnal animals. A radical change of scenery, but equally powerful.

Day 11: Wild fauna and the Monkey Island

We walk along jungle trails to Lake Apu Víctor, home to birds, monkeys, turtles, and perhaps the elusive river wolf. From the viewpoint, we will have spectacular panoramic views. In the afternoon, we explore Monkey Island and coexist with different species in their natural habitat.

Day 12: The last sunrise – Farewell to the green paradise

We say goodbye to the jungle with breakfast at the lodge. We sail back to Puerto Maldonado to take the flight to Lima and connect with your return home. You will take with you not only photos but a profound inner transformation.

DISCOUNTS

1. Children between 8-17 years old pay the student price, but they must show a copy of their passport. Children will receive the underage student price if they, at the time of their trip, are at most 17 years old and have had their birthday recently.

2. Children under seven (7) years of age receive a 30% discount.

3. The students must have a card with the following information to receive the discount:

• Name of the university/College/ Institutes.
• The student’s full name, identical to the one in their passport.
• A photo of the student.
• Student number or code.
• Expiry date (must be valid for the entire duration of the trip).

The student card must show all of the information mentioned above. If it does not, the Peruvian Ministry of Culture will not accept the card and will not issue a discount for the Inca Trail permit (it is this discount from the Ministry of Culture that we pass on to students).

Once you have reserved as a student, you must bring your original student card (not a copy) to enter the Inca Trail. If you forget your card, you will not be able to do the hike and you will lose your permit.

4. Members of the South American Club (SAE) receive a $20 USD discount.
